Off-The-Shelf Connectors

When economy is the chief concern, that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice performance. IDI recently introduced a line of standard off-the-shelf connectors for 100 mil centers available in three heights. Click here to review performance and mechanical specifications. Off-the-shelf Connectors

These proprietary designs developed by IDI engineers utilize the spring probe technology that has made IDI the world leader in spring contact probe innovation.

Before IDI introduced this solution, product designers were faced with few options, including straight-pin headers, pin-and-socket contacts and stamped metal contacts. The spring probes used in these IDI off-the-shelf connectors provide significantly more contact resiliency and provide a considerable longer cycle life than these conventional technologies.

IDI off-the-shelf connectors are available in six contacts per header and can be purchased in
multiples of one to six. Other features include:

  • Patented Eccentric* drill technology allowing the use a much smaller probe with higher reliability and performance.

  • Three different contact lengths: 3, 6, and 9mm at full travel

  • Stackable to form 2 x 6 or 1 x 12 arrays

  • Lowest resistance available on the market - < 10 mOhms

  • Current Rating of 12 amps
*Our patented Eccentric Plunger Probe is a new, spring contact probe design that allows product designers to use a much smaller probe with higher reliability and lower, more consistent resistance than ever before. This product breakthrough centers on a patented design for the internal biasing of a probe in a much shorter probe package. As a result, IDI engineers have significantly improved the reliability and longevity of the probe by reducing resistance and probe wear.

IDI off-the-shelf connectors are more economical than custom solutions, while still providing the ultra reliability that is needed for your application. They are being used in applications where connection is vital, like battery contacts for medical and safety devices and connectors for portable emergency communications and military devices.
